What’s your background?

I grew up in Toronto and did my undergrad and medical school at Western. I then moved out west to do a residency in Neuropathology at the University of British Columbia, and am now completing a MSc at SickKids through the UBC Clinician Investigator Program.

Why science?

After treating patients with brain tumours, my motivation is to understand why these terrible diseases happen, and to develop better diagnostic tests and treatments.

Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?

Find a project that you’re genuinely interested in for its own sake.

What do you like to do for leisure?

I really like outdoor sports, particularly mountain biking and snowboarding, and have played guitar for almost my whole life. Pre-COVID I also did Brazilian jiu jitsu and loved traveling around the world.

Any song or book recommendations?

Song: Anything by Dream Theater
Book: The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (Khaled Hosseini)
