What’s your background?

Born in India and raised in Toronto. I’m a microbiologist-turned-cancer researcher specializing in molecular biology, cancer pathology, genomics and biostatistics/informatics.

Why science?

I enjoy learning through hand-on experiments.

Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?

Have total confidence in your ideas, but total skepticism in your results.

What do you like to do for leisure?

The Leafs and Raptors games are at the top of my list. Followed by movies, music and some binge-worthy tv-shows.

Any song or book recommendations?

Recommended books for people with scientific curiosity:

•On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin

•The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins

Recommended books for everyone else:

•Comics books! (Especially Batman – The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller)

•The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

If someone were to make a movie about your life, what would the title be?
