What’s your background?

  • Originally from Northern Mainland China

  • Studied biochemistry at U of T for undergraduate and graduate school

Why science?

Fascinated by:

  • The human body, especially how it functions as a system from the brain to the heart to the body

  • Combination of biology/chemistry/physics, especially at the molecular level

Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?

  • Start exploring early

  • Stay curious

What do you like to do for leisure?

  • Watch TV, online shopping, play games

  • Recent interests: oil painting, leather work and sewing, picked up violin

Any song or book recommendations?

  • Many favorite songs, recently maybe “Big Bowl of Wide Noodles”

  • Have been interested in neuroscience in recent years, especially the circuit/universe-like neurons and brain waves, etc.; recommended book: The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks
