What’s your background?

I completed my BSc in Biology, focusing on Microbiology and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Human Nutrition at the University of Waterloo. I went on to complete my MSc in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto.

Why science?

I’ve always had a curiosity for how things work or why things do the things that they do - so I'm constantly asking questions (mentors and peers can verify). And that's the beauty of science, there's always another question you can ask.

Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in research?

It's easy to get caught up with society's expectations and someone else's dream but at the end of the day you need to do it for yourself. Explore different labs and fields of study and take the time to learn what area of STEM that you enjoy the most!

What do you like to do for leisure?

I’ve combined my love of art and science to become an online-based science communicator and illustrator (IG: @mypetcephalopod). I love visually sharing the neat little facts or knowledge that I learn along my own journey as a researcher. Outside of that, I enjoy maintaining my physical health with strength training and Muay Thai.

Any song or book recommendations?

Book: Life of Pi by Yann Martel

If someone were to make a movie about your life, what would the title be?
